David Marrs Trees was founded in 2021 by two brothers on a simple premise – David is one hell of a tree climber, and despite his relatively young age of 27, he has everything it takes to run his own tree service.
David had worked as an employee for numerous tree services throughout his early 20’s, learning from some of the best (and worst) owners, tree climbers, and ground crew members in the Pacific Northwest. David absorbed as much knowledge as he could from each service he worked for, and wasn’t afraid to move on if he wasn’t learning anymore or wasn’t being treated with respect. This led to him working for quite a few different outfits and learning what works and what doesn’t.
One day in late 2020 while doing a big removal for a tree service as an employee, another veteran climber that had been contracted for that job asked David why doesn’t he start his own tree service. This grizzled vet said, “You’re the one up in the tree taking all the risk doing these complicated removals, you’re the one making this whole operation go round. You should go out on your own and do this yourself. You’re ready!”. That was a big moment for David. It boosted his confidence and convinced him that there was no reason to wait any longer to start his own business.

That’s where David’s older brother, Carl, came in. Carl attended the University of Washington in the Foster School of Business, finishing with a Bachelor of the Arts in Business Administration, with a focus on Finance (as well as a Certificate of Studies in International Business). Since graduating in 2014, Carl has assisted numerous small businesses with bookkeeping, administration, and all the other little things that go into running a business. In an interesting twist of fate, David climbs trees and Carl climbs rocks and ice. Carl took the reins on the administrative and financial aspects of the business from day one, bringing a necessary mix of professionalism and organization to complement David’s skill with chainsaws, rigging, and his limitless enthusiasm for climbing trees.
Carl attended the University of Washington in the Foster School of Business, finishing with a Bachelor of the Arts in Business Administration & Finance.
