On Saturday Feb, 18 we were out in Yakima, WA on a tree removal job involving a dead Birch tree afflicted with Bronze Birch Borer. We worked around power and communication lines and got the job done within the day with a crew of 2.
Here’s a video walk-thru of the job from David, owner and operator of DMT LLC. Read on below to learn more about Bronze Birch Borer.
Bronze Birch Borer is a native insect pest, which bores into trees, especially birch trees, and eventually kills them. In this case the homeowners tree was past the point where it could be saved. Initially, the homeowner was looking for the tree to be pruned but upon inspection, David found that the tree had an infestation of these pests and determined that the best option would be to remove the tree.
Unfortunately, that is sometimes the only option when an infestation like this has progressed. If it is caught early, Bronze Birch Borer infestations can be remedied with injections or removal of the affected areas, but trees that receive no corrective measures will usually die with 2-3 years after the first dead branches are discovered.
If you suspect you might have a tree suffering from an insect infestation, don’t wait to call us so David can come take a look at the tree! Read about our tree removal services here and feel free to reach out for a free quote here on our estimates page!
